If you're a true skate dweeb you'll recognize this pic from an article in 411 involving Toy Machine. Diego, Josh, and Austin were milling about the Berkley park (which was built on top of toxic waste, I believe), when Jake Phelps (Thrasher Editor) and Mark Gonzales (mythic skateboard hero) showed up. Inspired by either Gonz's legend or Phelps' maddness, the Butcher took to the air, and John Bradford was right there to catch it.

Billy Blows Up New York!

Just kidding. But he is there right now, missing team meetings and shopping up a storm. Today's pic was taken on our last tour, at a super fun wallride spot. While the team Spider-Manned all over the place Billy waited patiently, sipping a forty of High Life and keeping spirits high with a new iPod sound station contraption. Immediately after the dudes were done, and Burn-Dog had stowed the camera gear, Billy went to work unleashing the arsenal of fireworks he had stockpiled in the van. We cautiously crept out of the schoolyard, scanning for concerned citizens and police cruisers. Bilbo the Menace was temporarily appeased...

Austin and the Lazy Boy Frontside Flip

This spot is the foundation of a former Long Beach area school. It's been abandoned for almost three years, rotting from the inside out. A-Stone breathed some life into it with a couple of cinder blocks, a piece of wood, and the decrepid couch that somehow found a home at the spot. He was rewarded for his urban resuscitation with a police raid, where boards were taken and fingers were shaken. Bummer, huh?

Leo gets a black eye!

Harm Hacks Hair!

Will his powers dwindle like some skateboarding Samson? Grinding a rail clutching the jawbone of a donkey? Seems unlikely... We drove to Burbank at 2:00pm arriving at the famous Van Owen bump (MJ Laser flipped it, remember skate nerds?). The spot is right in front of some bizarre apartment complexes filled with bizarre folks. One such weirdo was the gentleman in this picture (not Austin). Whenever someone hit the bump, he'd make a high pitched yelp right at the point of pop. He also used a folded up walker as a cane.
