Toy Machine Active's coverage of the Toy Machine demo.

Saturday, March 23rd- Mission accomplished- The Toy Machine Demo! Every Toy Machine fan that was at the demo knows that these guys skated like there weren't 65 MPH winds going on. I could barely live in this wind and so skateboarding seemed to be a huge task. The Toy Machine guys all skated with ease and killed the course for hours. read more here.

Toy Machine Toy Machine demo at Active was off the hook!

Until you've seen them in person, you can't understand the power of the Toy Machine team. Videos like Good & Evil might bring you really close, but seeing the team skate live is a treat you'll remember your entire life.

The demo started off great. The Active team riders are all up and coming rippers, and they cruised the course while everyone got warmed up. Once the Toy Machine team got warmed up though, there was no stopping them! They pulled just about every trick that could be done at a demo. That's consistancy!

Go to the slideshows to see the TOY MACHINE DEMO AT ACTIVE!

p.s. Its the 3rd slideshow down.

Keep your eyes peeled for a full on Toy Machine demo section on Fuel TV's 54321 this next weekend. The piece is scheduled to air on sat. May 7th on Fox Sports Net (check local listing, it changes times in every region) and air the rest of the week on Fuel. Hey Ma, we gonna be on TV!

Tum Yeto Ice Lounge web skating, for skateboarders.

Legendary Professional Skateboarder Salman Agah along with Industry Veteran Dave Metty Launch icelounge.com, a Skateboarding Community

COSTA MESA, Calif., (Mar. 9, 2005) – Fans, beginner skateboarders, professional skateboarders, and industry professionals alike have been flocking to icelounge.com to post their profiles, watch skateboard videos, and connect with new and old friends.

icelounge.com is unique because of the support of the industry and the heroes of the sport. Professionals like Steve Caballero, Richard Mulder, Dan Drehobl, Jim Gagne, and Chet Childress not only have profiles on the website but are also very actively involved on the site blogging, messaging, and commenting with their fans. Professional videographers, photographers, magazine editors, and shop owners are also active on the site. “It’s a true community where everyone is involved and represented, not just a certain group. I’m just as proud to have a father post a picture of his daughter on a skateboard as I would seeing another pro, or a grom posing with his first board. ” says Salman Agah, co-founder of icelounge.com.

In the first 2 weeks of the launch, thousands of members have registered purely from word of mouth spreading through the skateboarding community. Over 2,500 pictures and 400 videos have been posted. Page views in the first 2 weeks exceeded 270,000 and membership has been growing steadily at double digit rates daily. Membership is expected to grow at a much faster rate when the marketing campaign is fully implemented.

“We have much more in store for our community”, says Dave Metty, icelounge.com co-founder and musician. “Enhancements to the site are being rolled out almost on a daily basis. We are currently working on a streaming MP3 player so that members can create playlists and play songs uploaded by other members.”

Future plans include online skateboarding contests where members upload their videos to be judged, a “sponsor me” area where members will be represented to companies looking to sponsor skateboarders, and the Video On Demand Lounge where members can view exclusive content.

Deathbox Shogo Kubo “Board Of Honor”.

PRESS RELEASE

Deathbox Skateboards Awards Skateboarding Legend Shogo Kubo “Board Of Honor”.

ONLY 100 of these will be made. All will be signed and hand numbered by Shogo himself. Stay tuned...

Skateboarding Pioneer joins Deathbox Skateboard Company's Signature Skateboard Series “Board of Honor” program. Other legendary Deathbox deck models have included Jay Adams, Dave Hackett, Doug “Pineapple” Saladino, Brad Bowman, Wentzle Ruml, Eric Dressen and Mike Folmer.

SAN DIEGO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2005—DEATHBOX Skateboards (www.deathbox.com), the “Old School” Skateboarding industry leader, announced today that skateboarding legend Shogo Kubo has been chosen and accepted the first “Deathbox “Board Of Honor” Signature Skateboard Models.

Shogo is well-known as one of the Original Zephyr Team Skaters and one of the Notorious “DogTown Z-Boys”. (a.k.a. “Z-Boys”), a ragtag group of scrappy, lower-middle-class kids from the (then) rundown Los Angeles beach communities, Santa Monica and Venice- nicknamed “Dogtown”. In the mid-1970s, the Z-Boys pioneered today’s Radical airborne style of skateboarding by adapting their aggressive low slung stylish surfing moves to the concrete waves of schoolyard banks and empty swimming pools.

The Z-Boys story was told in the 2002 Sundance Award winning documentary “Dogtown and Z-Boys” and is now soon to be released as a “Hollywood Production” entitled “Lords of Dogtown” written by former Z-Boy Stacy Peralta and directed by Cathryn Hardwick.

Along with long-time friendly rivals Jay Adams, Tony Alva, and Stacy Peralta, Shogo was instrumental in pioneering numerous early skateboard moves including the “Bert”, the “Layback” and was one of the sport's all-time biggest skate stars, and lead architects of “The Z-Boy Style” appearing in commercials, films, movies and some of the early pool riding contests.

At the age of 14, Shogo Kubo emerged as an incredibly stylish surf skate phenomenon and quickly became one of the most popular and powerfully stylish skaters in the sport's history. He popularized the “layback”, and helped invent some of the early airborne moves including “The frontside and Backside air, as well as the “Invert”. He formed a friendly rivalry with fellow Z-Boys Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, Wentzle Ruml, Bob Biniak, and Jim Muir to help propel skateboarding into the beginnings of a legitimate and accessible sport.

"Shogo is one of skateboarding's most significant and stylish innovative pioneers, and Deathbox is stoked to have him as a Board of Honor recipient," said David Hackett, Creative Director, Deathbox Skateboards. "He has not only helped shape and create the legendary Z-Boy style, but he has influenced many others to skate with style, speed and aggression. He's a great SurfSkate Ambassador; very humble and really cool. He is still considered one of skateboarding's most important and stylish legendary riders."

"I'm stoked to receive the invitation of the “Deathbox Board of Honor” said Shogo. "Back in the Day, I rode a lot of pools, parks, schools and pipes with the Deathbox guys; Hackett, Bowman, and Pineapple and I am grateful to those guys for the opportunity."

The New Shogo Kubo Deathbox "Board Of Honor" Deck will be a similar "Pig" style shape as his 70's DogTown Skates Airbeam Model, but it will be a 10.25"X31.5" Flat Nosed "ThickBitch" Deathbox construction, with a 3.5" Nose, 7" Tail, and a 16.5" Wheel base. Shogo and Hackett did the graphics combining the classic Japanese Flag style in red, white, and black with a Signature Medal of Honor style graphic icon in the center, all done in the classic hardcore Deathbox style. The deck will only be produced as a super limited edition of 100 pieces, all hand signed by Shogo, and will retail for about twice as much as a regular deck.

About Deathbox
Back in 2000 when the entire skateboard industry was dominated by the “Popsicle Stick” thin ply deck, Deathbox skateboards was the first company to produce an entire line of wide, thick ply decks and classic skateboard re-issues of legendary riders such as Brad Bowman, Dave Hackett, Doug “Pineapple” Saladino, Tom Inouye, Jay Adams, Mike Folmer, and Wentzle Ruml.
