Dekline Something Else!

THRASHER MAGAZINE ISSUE 281 Gareth has done landed himself on the "Something Else" page in the New Thrasher page 236 with a sequence of him attempting to backside 180 the Infamous "El Toro" set. In his last days of filming for the new Foundation "That’s Life Flick" Gareth went for his last chance to pull it off before editing had to be done and unfortunately didn’t bring enough boards or limbs to conquer the task. Check out the footage in the special features of "That’s Life". Good Work Gareth.

Dekline Dekline in Europe?

Ben Gilley and Patrick Melcher are currently traveling Europe with the Black Label team and according to an e-mail I had just received from Ben they were on their way to Italy. He sounded really excited to be heading to new places and skate new spots. While they were in Paris he said they ran into Gareth Stehr and Corey Duffel on their Foundation trip. Good times and sick skating. We’ll keep you posted on more to come….

Tum Yeto Ollie Included in The Oxford English Dictionary.

The "OLLIE" - The trick that changed the face of skateboarding to be included in the latest edition of The Oxford English Dictionary.

Oxford English Dictionary: The Definitive Record of the English Language

ollie, n. Also with capital initial. [The name of Alan "Ollie" Gelfand (b. 1963), U.S. skateboarder, who invented the jump in 1976.] In skateboarding: a jump executed by pressing the foot down on the tail of the board to rebound the deck off the ground. Also: a similar jump in snowboarding.

ollie, v. intr. In skateboarding, snowboarding, etc.: to perform an ollie.

New York, NY - April 06, 2004 - Alan "Ollie" Gelfand was officially credited for his invention the "ollie". A fundamental 'no-handed aerial' skateboard trick, and the basis for all advanced skateboard tricks - that results in the skateboard rising off the ground and following the riders feet, as if defying gravity.

With the recognition of the Oxford English Dictionary, Gelfand reiterates, "I never realized how many people were affected by one little move an 80 pound kid from Hollywood, Florida made in 1976".

This honor comes at an opportune time as "Ollie" re-emerges as the inventor of the Ollie. Today, Alan lives in Hollywood, FL. and can often be found skating at his private bowl known as, "Olliewood". Visit www.ollieair.com to find out more.

'Gelfands innovation, the "Ollie" has became the single most important cornerstone in modern skateboarding; and adapted into a bewildering range of variants involving differing directions, rotations and combinations'. - Thrasher Magazine

Deathbox Pineapple is out of commission for a bit.

Doug Saladino just had the plate in his ankle removed. Do you remeber the photo when he broke it last year in Long Beach. Gnarley stuff! Pine will be out and layed back til the end of April. In the meantime Shey Saladino will be carrying the torch.

I found the picture of the plate and the 7 screws right now.
